CASE STUDIES

Pathway to a Strategic Partnership

Background

Seeking the opportunity to review their current coaxial infrastructure and upgrade options, the Bonita Bay Community Association quickly learned not only did they require an internal technology committee, but they also needed an external expert to ensure the negotiating process was competent and applicable. That’s when Converged Services stepped in to provide all residents of Bonita Bay the most advanced entertainment and communications package, with the most innovative technology.

  • Upgraded fiber to the home
  • Reduced cost and added value to the bulk package
  • Reliability of service

“What a refreshing feeling to know you can turn a problem into a solution effectively and efficiently. The Technology Committee was in pursuit of a partner, not a vendor. We found that with Converged Services.” – Chris Corrie, President, Bonita Bay Community Association

The Challenges

Bonita Bay Community Association realized the need to upgrade their current coaxial infrastructure, but did not know the local competitive landscape or the key, executive provider management to expedite the process to ensure all key items were included through the complex negotiations. Residents were concerned about the reliability of the services they were receiving. Majority of residents were paying retail price for products and services such as video service, HD programming, DVR functionality, as well as Internet and modem equipment. The Technology Committee understood the importance of updated infrastructure, better service at a better value, and choosing a provider with a strong customer service reputation. Moreover, The Technology Committee understood that in order to recommend a new bulk agreement inclusive of these factors to the master board and residents, they needed to move quickly and effectively.

Converged Services Solution

By partnering with Converged Services, the Technology Committee was confident that the process would be streamlined and efficient. Not only was the entire process completed in less than twelve months, but the Technology Committee was impressed with how Converged Services brought the senior executive management and owners of the competitive providers to the table to enable high-level and aggressive negotiations that will benefit the community well into the future.

Bonita Bay Community Association receive a high-speed fiber optic network connected to each home with no upfront costs, service level agreements to guarantee performance, a voice recognition remote control and industry-leading video platform, white glove service for homeowners and up front funds for legal services, construction management services and future technology needs. Looking ahead, Bonita Bay Community Association is confident that its partnership with Converged Services will be able to deal with changes in technology and consumer demand over the term of the agreement.

A Reliable Partnership

Background

When the Board of Directors at Seven Lakes formed the Information Technology Committee, the members of the committee ranged from having technology experience to no experience at all, which provided a sample of the community overall. The Committee’s chairperson reviewed the research of technology consulting companies, like Converged Services, because all members agreed that an expert was needed to oversee negotiations to provide the best products and services to the current and future residents of Seven Lakes.

  • White Glove, concierge-style customer service
  • Upgraded fiber to each home
  • Market-leading technology and pricing

“The Committee, Board, and residents of Seven Lakes are extremely happy with the reliability and knowledge of Converged Services, our technology partner through the term of the agreement.”

– Carl Triola, Seven Lakes, Information Technology Committee Member

The Challenges

Although the decision was unanimous to choose Converged Services as Seven Lakes’ technology partner, the community had a single video-only bulk agreement with a hybrid-fiber coaxial (HFC) infrastructure. Since only the video service was bulked, residents were paying retail pricing for products and services such as HD programming, DVR functionality, Internet and modem equipment. Based on high Internet usage of current residents, the Committee understood the importance of adding these additional services to the new bulk agreement as well as updating the infrastructure to fiber to each home. The current provider maintained that a consultant was not necessary to achieve these goals. The Committee knew to ensure the best services at the best value from a provider with strong customer service reputation, Converged Services was their only choice.

Converged Services Solution

The Committee was pleased the Converged Services’ proven process was much smooth than initially thought. The responsive and reliable team at Converged Services ensured all questions were answered. The fact that Converged Services offers certified project management through the negotiations and build-out of the new services was an added bonus for Seven Lakes.

Overall, the Board, Committee and residents of Seven Lakes are extremely happy and excited about the market-leading price negotiated for new bulk services as well as the products and programming included in the new bulk agreement. By adding HD programming, Whole-Home DVR service, Internet with equipment for each home, residents are saving thousands of dollars each year. The association also received an incentive signing bonus as well as fiber to each home to ensure this Community of Excellence is future-proof.
